T Pain Obama Auto-Tune

T Pain Obama Auto-Tune is a Youtube video of a T-pain digital short on Jimmy Kimmel Live.  Basically, they introduce the iPhone app where you speak into your iPhone and it autotunes it to make you sound like Cher/T Pain. (You can actually buy this app, so I slapped a "commercial" tag on this TOTI entry.)

They took a few Obama snippets and made it sound funny.  I'm not sure why they didn't even mention the Autotune the News folks, when clearly, this is their bag.  I mean, T-Pain even went on Autotune the News #8, so it's not like he wasn't aware of it. Whatever, I didn't watch the original Jimmi Kimmel live episode to know precisely if he mentioned it or not.

I was also uncomfortable with the twinkling grills at the end... but less guilty about the amputation joke. Does this make me a bad person?

Boop. Enjoy!

Go Girl

Go Girl is a commercial product that allows women to shoot pee out of a flexible funnel while camping. Charmingly available in pink.

Highlights according to my friend JenK: "Also the 'how to use it' section is really funny. 'Don't feel discouraged if you dribble.' "

I also noted the claim, "European women have used female urination devices for years." IS THIS TRUE? They have a different world across the pond that I never knew about. Comments please.

Amay-may.

TRAILER: Michael Moore's 'Capitalism: A Love Story'

TRAILER: Michael Moore's 'Capitalism: A Love Story' is the trailer for the newest Michael Moore film. The consensus seems to be that the film appears dated, and that Moore should re-release Sicko isntead.

Still probably going to see it.

Death to All But Metal

Death to All But Metal is a music video by Steel Panther. I'm just posting it here because of 1) why stop the juvenile jokes and 2) the Sarah Silverman bit at the end.

According to wikipedia, Steel Panther (formerly known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop and Metal Skool), is,

"a Los Angeles, California parody glam metal band.
Originally formed as Metal Shop, they have the longest running heavy metal show on the Sunset Strip. Onstage, the band both pays tribute to and lampoons the heyday of 80's glam metal. The band's between-song comedy includes jests at conflict between band members, discussions of drugs, sex, and improvised humor with the crowd."

The Guild - Do You Wanna Date My Avatar

The Guild - Do You Wanna Date My Avatar is a promotional music video for "The Guild" on Youtube. It speaks of geekyness of the record-breaking type.

As my friend Justin almost cogently explains,
"Felicia Day + Music + Video Game References + Whedon Blood = Awesome... i mean "4\/\/350/\/\3"

Enjoy!

The 9 Stupidest Products of All Time

The 9 Stupidest Products of All Time is a Huffington Post article rounding up the most useless products advertised on TV today.

Pretty spot on. Anytime the words "breakthrough in personal cleaning" come up in an infomercial, you know it's going to be a win.

As a side-note, I love how these round-up articles never stick to a good, standard number. It's always something random like "4 Most Epic Commercials from Your Childhood" or "9 Stupidest Products." The chosen number, invariably, is a product of the number of minutes article writer had to research before their lunch break, or the exact number of criteria-meeting Youtube videos that fit in the first search results page. Enjoy!

Hammer Pants Dance (HD)

Hammer Pants Dance (HD) is a Youtube video from A&E TV where a "group of dancers wearing Hammer Pants flashmob a trendy store and surprise hipsters in skinny jeans." It's basically a promo for the upcoming A&E show, Hammertime, which "follows the life of rapper and dancer MC Hammer, his wife of more than 23 years and their family of seven. The show takes an unprecedented look behind his larger-than-life personality and into his life as a devoted husband, father and business entrepreneur".

Gimmicky, sure. But I like that they found so many talented and different-looking dancers. I mean that accountant guy gets down.

Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality

Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality is an entry on the West Virginia Surf Report showing side-by-side pictures of ads for fast food, versus actual purchased items. It is predictably sad.

Home Duvet Cover Single

The Home Duvet Cover Single is a recession chic item on Dutch By Design.  According to the site,

"The Home Duvet lets you sleep under a cardboard box so a homeless person doesn't have to!

30% of the gross profits go to Centrepoint, the UK charity for homeless young people aged 16-25 (charity number 292411). Every night Centrepoint provides support and housing for 800 vulnerable homeless young people

Please note that the covers do not include pillow cases, you can order these via the drop down menu below."
Seems kind of  a low percent that goes to charity (though better something than nothing, I suppose). I think its main selling point is the awkward novelty.

Food, Inc

Food, Inc is a trailer about the eponymous commercial movie. According to Wikipedia, it was "directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Kenner. The film is loosely based on Eric Schlosser's bestselling 2001 non-fiction book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal and The Omnivore's Dilemma written by Michael Pollan."

Seems like your typical lefty documentary. I like the creepy music and totally wan to see it. Shoud I bother?

(PS: Okay okay you caught me: I don't normally post things like this, it's really just a ploy to get someone to see it with me.)

How To Shave Your Groin

How To Shave Your Groin is a self-explanatory YouTube video advertising Gillette products and explaining how to properly shave your groin. Without actually showing anything graphic. It uses hirsute shadow people to explain what to do.

I think I will have to try this lotion thing, lest I start getting the nickname "crotch itch".

Clean is Happy

Clean is Happy is a commercial website for the Washlet. It's a bidet-lid for your toilets. Of sorts. JenK writes in explaining perfectly:

"This is a website for bidets, but the spokespeople awkwardly never mention that word...or anything else related to actually using toilets. It's entertaining watching them avoid the dirty while promoting fancy toilets. If you only check out one watch, 'why it's better'.

Also, I don't understand what's up with the engrish title.

Oh! Also, there are more awkward gems under the questions bar, 'How hard does the water come out?'
---'ranging from nice to nicer

Great find!

Open Range Ad

Youtube's Trigger Treats found today's worst image on the interwebs. There it is. An ad for Openrange, stating that they do bachelorette parties. Way to keep it classy, 502! That's Western Kentucky, including Louisville, for those of you who are google-impaired.

Fat Wallet

Fat Wallet is a site for finding coupons and deals. It looks like there are annoying sign-ups, but according to on JE, there are good deals.

THe site explains its history: "Tim Storm launched FatWallet.com in 1999, simply as one page listing coupons for a handful of retailers. With the addition of a Hot Deals forum, FatWallet.com became a community of savvy shoppers. As this community grew, Storm recognized the members as the pulse of not only FatWallet.com but also the evolving marketplace."

Maybe You Shouldn't Buy That

Maybe You Shouldn't Buy That is a blog chronicling a collection of the most expensive and most worthless items in the world.

Sample:
"A Segway is kind of an unnecessary device. For moderately paced movement, you could probably save yourself a couple grand and walk. Or you could bathe in your excess by rolling around on the $12,000 Chanel Segway. Complete with a Chanel handbag and matching black quilted-leather mud flaps and handlebars, you can finally roll around with the combination of fashion and lethargy you’ve always craved."

You can sort entries by price/ridiculosity.  I recommend the $$$$$ category for maximal gawkery.

Kogi

This is old hat for the foodies but I figured it was time to feature it. I mean, it's been featured on NIGHTLINE so I feel remiss in having held out and not written about it earlier. //

Kogi is a Korean BBQ-To-Go Taco truck restaurant that announces its location (in LA) via Twitter.  They serve a mix of Korean BBQ and Mexican out of a taco truck. While they do have some pre-scheduled stops, they're always on the go.  Supposedly when the tweets go out, the lines are like, totally 100 feet long.

The Girlfriend Experience

The Girlfriend Experience is a commercial movie trailer on Hulu.com.

According to Buzzfeed: "Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film The Girlfriend Experience has been getting a lot of buzz lately, partially because it's the mainstream debut of adult film star Sasha Grey, an attractive lady who is sometimes naked." They're so gentle with their understatements and quasi-euphemisms.

Hulu bills the premise of the movie as: "A high-priced call girl works on solidifying her economic future while her live-in lover seeks success as a personal trainer."

The FABLife explains more about why exactly Sasha is famous:

"On the x-rated screen, she’s known for asking to be punched in the gut while performing fellatio.

To top it off, she’s a total nerd, and named herself in honor of Oscar Wilde’s Picture of Dorian Grey. Needless to say, we’re all a bit obsessed with her. In fact, her only flaw seems to be that she’s engaged to a photographer named Ian Cinnamon."

This is all a little bit weird, right?  I mean, media is pretty saturated with sex, but this is outrigh porn going mainstream. There it is. Handbasket and all.

Extract (Teaser Trailer)

Extract (Teaser Trailer) is the trailer for the upcoming Mike Judge movie, "Extract." Mike did "Office Space" in 1999, which is probably the only good thing he's ever done, other than attend UCSD.  I really like both those things, so I'll give this a shot.

According to MTV, "Judge envisions 'Extract' as an evil-twin sequel to 'Office Space,' but now it's the boss who has a bad case of the Mondays. 'He's the owner of a company that makes vanilla extract and orange extract, and that kind of thing. 'Office Space' was sympathetic to the employees, and the bosses and the managers were the a--holes. This one is sympathetic to Jason Bateman's character as the owner, and all the employees are the a--holes. ... It's another workplace comedy.' "

There you have it.

Joe Biden's Teeth

Joe Biden's Teeth is a silly website by 8 bit studios, whose purported aim is to "reduce our dependency on porcelain and metal fillings through the investment in clean and renewable enamel."

The disclaimer states that "Joe Biden is not affiliated with joebidensteeth.com, but we bet his teeth love it."

So it appears to be a mildly confusing publicity stunt by Trident... but then again, who knows. If you send in a picture of yourself smiling, Trident sends you a free pack.

The site is focused exclusively on Joe Biden's teeth. The tooth chronicles are especially cute, and have that mock-serious tone to it. You can play picture games guessing which set of teeth are Biden's. Or you can not bother. Whatever floats your boat.

Don't Judge Too Quickly

Don't Judge Too Quickly is a brilliant ad campaign by Ameriquest Mortgage. I was looking for an embedable link and found this montage of 6 Ameriquest + 2 non-Ameriquest commercials tossed in.  A+.  Actually, someone translated "Don't Judge Too Quickly" into Portuguese, making this video an A++.
