Every day, the interwebs is filled with an interminable supply of crap and one cool thing. Like a jet-powered bloodhound, this blog seeks out and posts that one thing. On occasion, nothing interesting is added to the internets. In that case, something old is posted.

Chan Ho Park Answers His Critics
I'm trying to assure myself that's it's okay to laugh at cultural mis-understandings, but I think to be honest I feel guilty and racist laughing at this. I will entertain thoughts in the comments section.

Student Brings Typewriter To Lecture
The best part about it is the "ding!" sound.
The second best part is the commentary about this video.
From Buzzfeed:
[Editor's Note: Man, lecture halls must have been so loud back in the old days.]
Buzzfeed Commenter: "Uh, nobody typed during a lecture back in the old days. We scribbled notes with a pen. In a paper notebook."
Rebutted by second commenter, "O RLY?!"
And finally, commenter from Gizmodo, "What class is this, Douchebaggery 101?" Touché.

T Pain Obama Auto-Tune
T Pain Obama Auto-Tune is a Youtube video of a T-pain digital short on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Basically, they introduce the iPhone app where you speak into your iPhone and it autotunes it to make you sound like Cher/T Pain. (You can actually buy this app, so I slapped a "commercial" tag on this TOTI entry.)
They took a few Obama snippets and made it sound funny. I'm not sure why they didn't even mention the Autotune the News folks, when clearly, this is their bag. I mean, T-Pain even went on Autotune the News #8, so it's not like he wasn't aware of it. Whatever, I didn't watch the original Jimmi Kimmel live episode to know precisely if he mentioned it or not.
I was also uncomfortable with the twinkling grills at the end... but less guilty about the amputation joke. Does this make me a bad person?
Boop. Enjoy!

Homeopathy & Nutritionists vs Real Science!
Homeopathy & Nutritionists vs Real Science! is a stand-up routine by Dara O'Briain about the public understanding of biological and health science.
Basically, teehee. Especially after my CAM class on homeopathy. For the uninitiated, that's a field whereupon people think that "like cures like." They make healing potions by diluting something to or beyond avogadro's number... and shake the hell out of the bottle (calling it "succussion"). Then they call that an elixir and sell it to you.
The routine is precious.

Though I did always think that Sugar Ray guy sounded fratty and douchey. Wait, did I just say the same thing twice? Sorry.

Slow Jam the News: Health Care Reform (9/14/09)
Accordign to the Huffpo, "Jimmy Fallon and the Roots sexualized the health care debate last with a sensual slow jam about reform. 'Bipartisanship means everyone can partay,' they crooned.
Jimmy, of course, cracks up through the entire thing. It's incredibly juvenile. And sexey.
Highlights:
"Let's do it with the lights on" [crack up]
"...diaphanous... I don't mean to be too pedantic."
Enjoy!

Marquee Fail
Marquee Fail is an entry on the failblog that is too good to ignore. It's a photo of a marquee advertising two movies, that reads kind of like your stalker's magazine-cut-out love notes.
"There will definitely be blood... Maybe"
I love the follow-up by the commenter on Buzzfeed. "Bambi II isn't afraid to lay all its cards on the table. None of this 'maybe' stuff."

Lindsay Lohan's eHarmony Profile
Lindsay Lohan's eHarmony Profile is a Funny or Die monologue by Lindsay Lohan. Yeah, it broke a couple of days ago, but I'm just now catching up.
I thought it was a cute spot. Short, sweet, charming. Her PR person must be thrilled. "Lindsay Lohan is newly single and ready to mingle!"

Extract (Teaser Trailer)
According to MTV, "Judge envisions 'Extract' as an evil-twin sequel to 'Office Space,' but now it's the boss who has a bad case of the Mondays. 'He's the owner of a company that makes vanilla extract and orange extract, and that kind of thing. 'Office Space' was sympathetic to the employees, and the bosses and the managers were the a--holes. This one is sympathetic to Jason Bateman's character as the owner, and all the employees are the a--holes. ... It's another workplace comedy.' "
There you have it.

Mind-Melting Demo Disasters
Mind-Melting Demo Disasters. As New York magazine explains, "Some awesome anonymous country label has started a tumblr on which it's posting the worst (i.e. best) unsolicited demos it has ever received in the mail. They are all, without a single exception, fantastic."I guffawed-out-loud at the Step Aerobics Class From Hell. Also, I embarrassedly kind of liked the track that sounds like something that was made on a 1988 casio keyboard... that is, until the singer started singing. It was all chill, pseudo-French and whimsical up until then. Then it was like, ew, no. Let's NOT get it on. Anyway, the list of finds goes on and on. Enjoy!

Malört Face
Malört Face is a Flickr group showing people who have just tried Malört. According to Buzzfeed's Peggy, this is "a wormwood-flavored Swedish schnapps. It seems like Malört face could describe the worst possible face you can make."
According to Wikipedia, "Malört, a distilled beverage, is the name of a Swedish style of schnapps called "Beska Droppar", flavored with wormwood. The word malört is the Swedish word for the wormwood plant. The smell and taste is musty and extremely bitter. Malört is popularly alleged to be a cure for indigestion."
According to me, that's crazy.

New Math
New Math is a well-designed, simple website about concepts as math equations run by the mysterious CRAIG DAMRAUER. Craig claims to bake his ideas fresh every monday. Simple, delightful. Some of the ideas are rather half-baked, but I appreciate the fresh visual appeal. As a tangential aside, I always have trouble spelling "equation." It makes sense that there is a T there, because the two sides equaTe but it's weird that everyone pronounces it equaSION. Like an invasion of equal signs. Sigh. I digress. Enjoy!
